Regenerative Medicine

What is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative Medicine therapies are performed as outpatient procedures. These therapies can be used to treat acute or chronic pain conditions related to degenerative disease. There are many different types of treatments and approaches that we will customize to your condition.

Conditions Treated With Regenerative Therapies

  • Neck and Back Pain
  • Sacroiliac Pain (Sacroilitis)
  • Facet Pain
  • Muscle Injury or Tear
  • Shoulder Injuries
  • Rotator Cuff Tears
  • Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow
  • Wrist Pain
  • Joint Arthritis
  • Hip Pain
  • Knee Pain
  • Ligament Sprains or Tears
  • Ankle and Foot Pain
  • Tendon Injury or Tear

What Are Some of the Regenerative Options?

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma:

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is concentrated form of your own blood that can promote healing and regeneration of injured or painful areas. It is simple but very powerful!

PRP is created using a small sample of your blood which is then centrifuged at high speeds to isolate the plasma rich in platelets and other regenerative factors.

Prolotherapy and Perineural Therapies:

Prolotherapy is a regenerative approach that involves the injection of an irritant solution into an area where the tissues have been injured to stimulate healing.

Perineural therapies also use a similar solution that targets inflamed nerves that may be contributing to painful conditions.

How Are The Treatments Performed?

What Procedure is Best for Me?

Once the best regenerative approach is customized for you, we will walk you through the procedure process and what to expect.

Is the Procedure Guided?

Yes, we use both ultrasound and fluoroscopy guidance when needed to ensure we are placing the treatment exactly where it is needed.

Is it Painful?

At FUSION, we do everything to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Prior to the injection, we use a local anesthetic to numb the area of injection which significantly reduces pain. Once the injection is completed, we place a specialized cooling system to the area which also provides gentle pressure.

How Long Do Injections Take To Perform?

Usually the total procedure time takes about 45 to 60 minutes start to finish.

Cost

At FUSION, we are not only very competitively priced but offer a service and experience no other clinic can match.  The cost of PRP injections vary based on how much is used and what are is being targeted.  Please come in and we will be happy to go over specific pricing for you. We do offer military and other service occupation discounts!

Recovery Time

We usually advise relative rest for about a week after the PRP injection. Depending on your occupation, you should be able to work after the injection and should have no problems with daily activities.  You may want to rest the day after the injection as some people have mild discomfort and stiffness. Performing gentle range of motion exercises is usually helpful after the injection.

Benefits

Usually patients start noticing some improvement between 2-4 weeks after the injection.  Improvement is slow and gradual as your body is healing and regenerating the affected area.  The cells injected remain in the area about 6 months working hard to heal the tissue.

Is It Right For Me?

How Many PRP Injections Will I Need?

Everyone is different and results vary but most patients need between 1-3 injections. If needed, injections are provided every 4 weeks.

Does it Really Work?

PRP Therapy has proven to be very effective at relieving pain and regenerating tissue in several research studies. However, there is still a lot of research that still needs to be done and not everyone will get improvement. We will share with you our clinical experience and see if it is a good option for you. The more we learn about this treatment the more exciting it becomes.

Am I a Candidate for PRP?

Probably, almost every painful condition can benefit from regenerative treatment approaches. At your first appointment, we will take the time to understand your issue and outline the best treatment just for you. Give us a call and schedule an appointment – we look forward to beginning the healing!
